I haven’t spent very long with exercise and a little bit of
body-building. At my age, I’m certainly not going to be a competitor.
However, I do have an interest in diet and weight management. People
with an increasing amount of muscle will be able to burn more calories
each day. Since muscles burn calories at a much faster pace than fat, I
want to build muscle for health, strength, AND weight control.
Exercise is crucial for developing strong, bulky muscles, but that alone
won’t do the job. We also need the right kind of diet to prepare for
exercise and to recover afterwards. This little book is far from an
exhaustive treatment of the subject. It’s just an introduction, but I
think, it is a good one. Some reviewers complained that it is too
short. I won’t argue too much about that because I believe this author
has more to share, and I'd like to read it. However, the size of the
book may be an advantage for those who are new to the subject. Within
just a few minutes the beginning bodybuilder should have the key ideas
for how to be productive in muscle growth and endurance through good
meal planning, using the proper macronutrients. There is a good
overview of the kinds of foods contributing to muscle development. The
book is modestly priced and recommended for beginning bodybuilders.
